Winter Virtual Meet-up,
Project Challenge, and Demonstration by NCEG President Holly Carter
Friday, December 17th, 11 AM -12:00 PM
You are invited to create and pre-enamel a copper ornament or object of your choice, to be decorated with glass seed beads, and torch fire. All from your own studio!
Holly will demonstrate how to apply the decorative seed beads and carefully fire them into the pre-enameled piece, during the virtual meet-up. If you are able to pre-enamel your copper at home (w/kiln or torch), we can decorate and then fire it together!
Please join in whether you have the ability to do these things in your studio or not. At the very least, you can watch the demonstration for future use. And, don’t worry, if you do not have a torch you can also fire in your kiln.
Time allowed, Holly will discuss the various types of torches that work well with torch firing enamels.
Items you will need:
- Copper 20 gauge – 3 inches or less in size, both sides enameled, 1-2 layers
- Klyr Fire glass adhesive
- Small brush
- Tweezers and/or tooth pick
- Glass Seed Beads – can be purchased from any craft store, but must be actual glass. Metallic colors don’t work
- Tripod with screen or firing brick
- Trivet – large enough to hold your copper piece
- Torch – large/very hot butane micro-torch, acetylene/atmosphere, or propane/atmosphere with large tip/flame.
Please don’t stress about getting supplies that you may not have, this is just a quick fun project to do together if you can! But, if you have any questions you can email Holly at president@enamelguild.org.
Please RSVP on the Evite that you have received via email. Zoom link will be on the Evite and the Reminder Email.
