Summer Virtual Meet-up and Demonstration by NCEG Member Anita Selinger

Monday, August 30th, 1-1:45 PM

Please join us for a virtual Meet-up and Demo with Anita Selinger!

NCEG member, Anita Selinger, will be discussing Cloisonné preparation techniques, such as sifting the fines out of the grain enamel to use for cloisonné and how she washes the enamels after sifting.  Anita will talk about the different grain size of enamels that are used for techniques other than cloisonne. Anita has been experimenting with a couple of new techniques and may tell us about her experiments as well.

Anita has a degree in Art Education from New York University and a Jewelry Design degree from Fashion Institute in New York.  At age three Anita knew she was going to be an artist after taking pre-school art classes at the Brooklyn Museum.  After teaching art for one term, Anita took a jewelry making class and was hooked.  Sculpting beautiful jewelry has been Anita’s medium of artistic expression and vocation for the past 45 years. Her passion for color is fulfilled by the richness of combining different precious metals, adding exquisite natural gemstones, and vitreous enameling.  Creating original models into jewelry combines the three-dimensional and tactile elements of sculpture and her enameling inspires the colors and composition of painting.  Anita treasures craftsmanship and spends many hours creating hand sculpted waxes and refining them after they are cast.  The purity of her enamel colors and perfecting techniques are very important to her and Anita can work for hours on her jewelry designs.
“It is a joy and meditation for me, to be lost in making choices about color, shape, and composition.  In addition, I am tremendously inspired by my wax carving and enameling students’ work and love teaching.”
